Welcome

Welcome to our blog; a space for creativity, humour and pondering about parenting.

I’m a parent to a teen, a tween and our newest addition who is currently 3 months old. I’m a social worker on maternity leave from a child and adolescent mental health service. I’ve always had a keen interest in making social work and child development theories understandable and accessible in every day life to parents who want to understand the rationale behind some of the things we do with our kids. Our blog space is called rainbow mums because not only are rainbows colourful and creative, they represent a lot of things. We’re an LGBT family with two mums. We’re also a neurodiverse family, and we’ve been through the pandemic where rainbows became a symbol of hope and positivity. I know the rainbow has meaning for those who have experienced loss and are often used to represent diversity….These are all things we want to embrace and welcome with this space. So welcome to rainbow mums.
